The Need for Web Typography

Consider for a moment, the main form of content you come into contact with when using the web on your phone, tablet, or computer. Any time you read a news article, blog post, tweet, or Facebook status update, you interact with text. That text is displayed using the carefully chosen fonts of the website you are using. Twitter used Helvetica Neue until last year when they switched to Gotham. When people complained about Gotham’s chunkiness, they switched back to Helvetica Neue.

Creating a Cartoon: Part 1 – The Concept

I wanted to fill up my spare time at work with something fun, creative, and challenging. After I saw Toy Story all those years ago, I became fascinated by the possibilities of creating characters and worlds entirely in a digital environment. I was also struggling to come up with an idea to blog about. First world problems! It occurred to me that I can kill two birds with one stone.

The Mind of Web Developers

Throughout my years of programming, there have been some quirky things I’ve noticed that we web developers do that is sometimes a little different than everyone else at the office. We’ve also seen our share of “complaints” about some of the things we do. Programmers can be a strange bunch. Here’s a few of the more obvious quirks, explained!

Copywriting for the Web

Here at KEEN we work on a lot of websites. It’s a long process and for everything to run smoothly the client counts on us to understand their goal, communicate it effectively and get the job done in a timely manner. Not only does the client count on us, but we also count on the client. It is important that the client has a clear understanding of what they want their new website to achieve, and also has the content to populate said website.

Colour Schmolour

Either you need to add an image to the web, or you’ve got logo files with different file names but you don’t know what to do with them, you likely will need to consider colour. In the design world, colour is crucial and ensuring the right colours are used help us brand your company in a consistent way.

We’re Off to the 2015 Redgees April 20!

We’ve got some big news over here at KEEN Creative. We’re FINALISTS in this year’s 2015 Redgee Awards!

Buzzfeed’s Clever Approach to Advertising

If you’re like me, and I am finding as I get older that I have a lot more in common with everyone else than I realized, then you also love spending time reading nonsense articles including “23 French Fries You Need To Eat Before You Die” or just a vine of a dog playing a cowbell to “Don’t Fear the Reaper” (LOL btw).

Maintaining a Healthy WordPress Website

WordPress hosts over 74 million websites world wide and is one of the top content management platforms out there. Public plugins range from something as simple as building a contact form to full e-commerce functionality; there is pretty much nothing that you can’t build with it. With countless users to date and that number always growing, the WordPress team knows the importance of making sure their platform is running efficiently and securely.

Trending: Online Videos and Brand Promotion

We have been working on some really cool things over here at the headquarters of KEEN Creative. Just when you think we had done it all, we have just started to take on the wonderful world of video, bringing it in house full time. They say a picture says a thousand words. Now, if there are 24 frames per second, then a minute of video is worth 1.4 million words! Imagine that kind of impact on your brand messaging.
