We’ve talked before about how much we love creative challenges. They help us practice our skills, step out of our comfort zone, and really get creative. That’s why we decided to create our very own challenge: Colour Roulette!

The rules for Colour Roulette are very simple:

1. You are assigned a random colour using a hex code generator
2. You create something awesome using that colour
3. Show off your awesome thing!

That’s it! Those are the rules! We’ve assigned each person participating to a particular month, so they have lots of time to think about what they’ll make and to create it. We’ll post the results on our blog and on social media, so stay tuned to see what we come up with! To add to the fun, we’re encouraging everyone to provide whatever they’ve made in multiple sizes so that they can be downloaded as desktop and mobile backgrounds. So if you really love what you see, you can download it and stare at it all day long!

Danny, our videographer, came up with this super neat animated character using the hex code (#52d328) he was assigned. He’s also created another version of him dancing to Canned Heat, which you can check out on our Instagram.

We would LOVE to see other people take up this challenge. If you decide it’s something you want to try out, use the hashtag #ColourRoulette so we can see what you come up with! You can make it a monthly challenge like we’re doing, or up the ante a bit and challenge yourself to come up with something weekly or even daily! Maybe it’s a 30-day challenge that you try to spark some creative inspiration. Maybe you want to add rules, like incorporating typography or animation or something to the project. The world is your oyster, so give it a shot and see what you create!
