The fifth event in the Pure Vision Office Olympics was a hilarious and resourceful round of File Folder Cross Country Skiing! This sport consisted of a timed lap around the office with office file folders taped to our feet in the shape of skis. Athletes were not allowed to lift their feet off the ground so motion was restricted to a ridiculous sort of speed-shuffle.
Before the event began, the athletes gathered in the Pure Vision lounge / Athlete’s Village to construct their skis. Some athletes formed clunky tubes ripped and shoved around the contours of their feet, while others carefully constructed aerodynamic works of art with pointed tips and Sharpie marker graphic embellishments.
We had a special visit from retired (a.k.a. on maternity leave) athlete Lisa Feehan, our Director, Creative Services! Lisa competed with the rest of the athletes while her daughter cheered from the sidelines (a.k.a. she’s a baby so she sat on Nicole’s lap looking cute and stuff) and participated in the medal presentation ceremony.
The lap started and finished in the library just outside the boardroom, creating a track for athletes with a few tight corners that were a challenge to navigate. Some athletes got really into it and executed flawless skiing form throughout their lap! Check out the image captures and final lap times below:
Jerry eclipsed Matt and took home the gold medal, Matt took home the silver and Kim took home her first Olympic medal, the bronze!
We were having so much fun speeding around the office that the only video we got of this event was the medals ceremony, where our guest of honour Lisa handed out the medals. Stay tuned for coverage of Office Chair Curling!
